Preps had their first incursion as part of their Integrated Topic ‘Community Helpers’. Stacey from the Responsible Pet Ownership Team brought along her dog named ‘Force’ to help teach the prep students how to be safe around dogs in our local community.
The students sang songs and had fun while learning about dogs, their behaviours and how dogs might react in different situations.
Students also practised how to greet a dog in the community. We can:
– ask the dog owner first before approaching a dog
– let the dog smell our curled-up hand to get to know us
– stand next to the dog to pat in a gentle manner
Some lucky students were even given the opportunity to greet Force. He was such a sweet dog and all the students did a fantastic job.
