This week is NAIDOC week, and celebrations are being held all across Australia to celebrate the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. NAIDOC is celebrated not only in Indigenous communities, but by Australians from all walks of life. The week is a great opportunity to participate in a range of activities and to support your local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
This week, three year 6 students, Adam, Archie and Claire, had the opportunity to meet with 2 time AFL Premiership player Marlion Pickett, and discuss what it was like growing up in the indigenous community of Manjimup. A huge thank you to Marlion for taking the time to speak with us and also to Mrs Kingsley for helping organise the opportunity. Visit https://www.naidoc.org.au/ to learn more.
