PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Yesterday we had many of our students represent Oakleigh South at the Beachside Division Athletics Carnival. Congratulations to the students who represented our school so well, the feedback about the student’s behaviour and sportsmanship was exemplary. A huge thank you to the staff who have put hours of time into training the students in preparation to be their best. Well done to the students who have qualified to move to the next stage, the Southern Metro Regional Athletics to be held next Wednesday.

The year 2 children are well and truly into their rehearsals for the upcoming production of ‘The Goblins Next Door’, to be performed on Tuesday 28th and Wednesday 29th November. Please save these dates in your diary as the Year 2 children can’t wait to see you there.  Ticketing information will be published soon.

Over the past months there has been a lot of work done in recreating ‘The Village.’ New fencing now separates the garden, animal areas and sport courts, with the hot house almost complete. Next to come are the new vegetable gardens and flower beds. Before you know it, we will be planting seedlings and watching the vegetables and flowers grow. Ms Sakellaris will begin the cooking program in the new kitchen area with the year 3 and 4 children in the coming weeks.

Just another reminder that Oakleigh South Primary School will not be a voting place for the referendum being held this Saturday.

Have a fantastic week.

SCHOOL MATTERS

JAPANESE DRESS UP DAY

We are excited to let you know about our upcoming Japanese Matsuri Day on October 24th in Term 4, week 4.

This is a yearly event where we celebrate our students’ achievements in the Japanese program and explore Japanese culture.

Just like in previous years, we are planning a dress-up day.

We encourage students to get creative and dress up in things related to Japan.

For example, they can wear kimonos, karate uniforms, ninja or samurai outfits, or even fun Harajuku-style clothes.

They can also choose to dress up as popular Japanese characters like Pikachu, Sushi, or their favourite anime characters.

We hope to see all our students participating, dressing up, and having a great time on Japanese Matsuri Day.

Let’s celebrate together!
