PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Welcome back to the final term of the year. It will be another busy term full of exciting activities. There will be incursions, excursions, division and region athletics, Japanese Dress up Day, the Colour Run, a curriculum day, the much-anticipated Year 2 production and lots more. Before you know it, we will be celebrating Christmas and the summer holiday break. But most importantly, there will be lots of learning to prepare the children for 2024.
In just over two weeks, we will begin our 2023 Prep Transition program. This will be held over four Friday afternoons where our 2024 preps will be involved in various activities to help familiarise them with primary classroom. It’s always an exciting time for our new students and parents as they prepare for next year.
Building works and refurbishments continue around the school. There have been many changes over the holidays. Please continue to observe the correct entrances and exits to the school. We appreciate your patience as we get closer to the finish line.
With the upcoming referendum on Saturday 14th October, please note that Oakleigh South Primary School will not be a voting place.
Enjoy the rest of the week.

SCHOOL MATTERS

OSPS BOOK FAIR
The OSPS bookfair is back next week, Monday 9th October through Thursday 12th October. The books will be on display in the school library. Your children will have the opportunity to visit the library with their class and write a wish list of books they might like to purchase. Photos of the books will be available to view on our school Facebook Page.
Once you have decided which books you want to purchase, please go online to www.scholastic.com.au/payment or you can scan the QR code on the pamphlet your child will be given to bring home. Once you have paid, complete the Payment Form on the pamphlet and record your receipt number, amount paid, your child’s name and class and the name of the book/books you are purchasing. Return the form to school and the books will be supplied from the display in the library and delivered to your child’s classroom. Should we run out of the books you have chosen, I can reorder them online and they will be sent to our school and then delivered to your child. It is very important that the proof of payment is sent back to school by Thursday 12th of October and all the details on the ‘Pre-Payment’ form are correct. Please remember this is BOOK FAIR, not BOOK CLUB.
We are looking for parent helpers in the library to assist the students writing their wish list when they come and visit. Time slots are 9am – 12pm and 12pm – 3.30pm. Please e-mail Anthony
Rowe anthony.rowe@education.vic.gov.au
The children really enjoy our Book Fair and we look forward to your support.

OSPS FOOTY DAY
On the last day of term OSPS celebrated Footy Day. The weather was spectacular and everyone looked like they had a blast.
Our junior and senior parades were wonderful and the staff vs Yr 6 students game finished in a nail biting draw 19-19.
For the first time we had a coin line competition which was a huge success. As a school, we raised $2224.15 for the Children’s Tumour Foundation.
I don’t think I have been more proud to be a part of our school. Thank you so much because you have all made a real difference. Well done to Prep LM (13.5m) and 5CC (23m) on winning the longest coin line competition and to 4AS on winning the Kahoot quiz!

COLOUR RUN
After the success of our last colour run, Parent Group is excited that the event is back again in 2023! The date of the event is Friday, 17 November 2023 and registrations will close on Friday, 10 November 2023.
Registering for the colour run will be different to last year, as it will all be processed online with fundraising incentives on offer.
Next week, each student should receive a booklet with instructions on how to register and set up a profile page. This can then be shared via social media with family and friends if you wish to fundraise. Please note, that no cash will be accepted at the office, so any cash donations received will need to be converted to an online donation.
The minimum cost for each participant is $10. Closer to the event, participating students will receive a headband and sunglasses. All other prizes will be distributed a few weeks after the event.
Further information will be sent in the lead up to the event. In the meantime, if you have any questions or concerns or your child hasn’t received their booklet, please feel free to contact Parent Group on osparentgroup67@gmail.com.
