What a wonderful way to bring a very busy Term 3 to a close!

Last Wednesday, our Prep students enjoyed a fantastic excursion to Melbourne Zoo. It was wonderful to see their enthusiasm and curiosity as they explored the zoo and learned more about the animals. I am sure they came home with plenty of exciting stories to share!

Our Year 6 production of Mary Poppins has been nothing short of spectacular. Across the four nights, Monday to Thursday, our students entertained audiences with their incredible performances, enthusiasm and talent. A huge thank you to our hardworking staff for the countless hours of preparation, rehearsals and support that made the production possible. Thank you also to our wonderful parents and families for supporting the children throughout this experience.

Most importantly, congratulations to our Year 6 students. You put on an outstanding show and should be extremely proud of your efforts. Your confidence, commitment and teamwork were wonderful to see. The Year 6 production is certainly a highlight and such a memorable way to celebrate your final year of primary school!

What a great way to finish such a busy term than with our annual Footy Day today! Our students had a wonderful time getting involved in the activities and showing off their accurate kicking skills and dressing in their favourite team colours. Our Coin Line was another wonderful success, raising funds for the Children’s Tumour Foundation and Flicker of Hope. Thank you to our students and families for their generous contributions and support.

A big thank you also goes to our Parent Group for putting on a fantastic Hot Dog Day for the students. Your continued support and willingness to contribute to our school community is greatly appreciated.

As we head into the school holidays, I encourage all students to keep up their reading and spend some time completing their Mathletics. A little practise over the break will help keep those skills fresh!

Above all, stay safe, enjoy some quality family time and have a restful and well-deserved break. Thank you to our students, staff and families for another wonderful term. I hope everyone enjoys the holidays and returns refreshed and ready for Term 4.

School resumes on Monday 5th October.

SIBLINGS STARTING PREP IN 2027

We are currently preparing our Transition sessions for students commencing Prep in 2027.

If your child is due to start Prep in 2027 and you have not yet submitted an enrolment application, please do so as a matter of urgency.

Please access the Student Portal via Service Victoria to lodge your application and upload all required supporting documentation:

• Birth certificate
• Immunisation History Statement from Medicare
• 100 Points of Proof of Residence

THE RESILIENCE PROJECT

Since 2022, OSPS has partnered with The Resilience Project to support student wellbeing from Foundation to Year 6 through the Inspire Program. The curriculum, designed by teachers for teachers, aligns with Victorian and Australian Curriculum standards in Personal and Social Capabilities and Health and Physical Education.

The program focuses on four key strategies to build resilience and happiness:

• • Gratitude: The act of being thankful and appreciating what you have in life.
  • Empathy: The capacity to understand and feel what another person is feeling.
  • Mindfulness: The practice of attention regulation.
  • Emotional Literacy: The ability to understand and express our feelings.

Each week, students participate in formal lessons and complete entries in their Resilience Student Journals. Activities include gratitude posters, mindfulness colouring, and emotion-matching exercises. As a Partnership School, OSPS integrates The Resilience Project’s wellbeing curriculum across the whole school community.

There are many ways to support your child’s mental health at home.
