What a fantastic day we had last Saturday!! The weather was perfect and that set the tone for an absolutely sensational day!

The crowd arrived early, and the excitement could be felt as the children enjoyed the carnival rides, had their faces painted, and ate ice cream and fairy floss far too early — but that is exactly what fete day is all about!

The way everyone pulled together to make the fete happen was an amazing achievement and a true credit to everyone involved. Not only is the fete strongly supported by our school community, but it also attracts many local families and community members who do not yet have connections to our school, which is wonderful to see.

I cannot thank the staff, parents, and children enough for working so tirelessly in the lead-up to the fete and on the day itself. It was certainly a fantastic day all round, filled with a wonderful atmosphere, community spirit, and plenty of smiles. The feedback and compliments we have received have been extremely positive. At the end of the day, you would never have known a monstrous fete had been held only hours before!

A MASSIVE THANK YOU TO EVERYONE INVOLVED IN MAKING THIS FETE A SUCCESS!

On Tuesday, the OSPS Cross Country Team competed in the Bentleigh District Cross Country event. Congratulations to all the children who competed, and a big thank you to the staff who supported the team in preparing for the event. We are incredibly proud to announce that OSPS won the overall district event, with 17 students now progressing to the regional cross-country competition in the coming weeks. Congratulations to everyone involved on this outstanding achievement!

The Parent group held their annual Mother’s day Stall on yesterday and today. Thank you to all the volunteers that provided this exciting shopping opportunity for the students! There were so many decisions being made on the perfect gift for MUM 💗

Today, our Prep children celebrated a beautiful afternoon with their mums and special people. Guests were pampered with manicures, massages, and hair makeovers, while also enjoying the photobooth and biscuit decorating stations. It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces and special moments shared together. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the afternoon so memorable.

Finally, we would like to wish all the wonderful mothers, grandmothers, and special people in our children’s lives a very happy and relaxing Mother’s Day this Sunday. We hope you are surrounded by family, love, and perhaps get just a little bit spoilt 💗

    Warm regards,

    Nikki Virtuoso
    Acting Principal

    CONTROLLED ECOLOGICAL BURN NOTICE

Please be advised that The Metropolitan Golf Club will be conducting a planned ecological burn within a small area of native vegetation on its property, adjacent to the school.

At this stage, the burn is expected to take place on Monday 11 May 2026, subject to weather conditions and relevant safety approvals.

The controlled burn is being conducted under a valid City of Monash permit and with the awareness of the Oakleigh Fire Brigade. The purpose of the burn is to assist with weed management and support the regeneration and long-term health of indigenous plant species and local ecosystems.

The burns are supervised, small in scale, and appropriate fire-control measures will be in place.

Families may notice some smoke in the area during this time.

For further information, please contact The Metropolitan Golf Club Course Administration on 9570 6742.

    CELEBRATING MOTHER’S DAY

Mother’s Day is an annual reminder to say thanks to our mum, or other motherly figure, who plays an important role in our lives. It is a day to express our gratitude and love towards the women who have dedicated their time, energy, and love to raise and support us. Whether it’s a simple gesture like a card, a bunch of flowers, or a heartfelt message, Mother’s Day is an opportunity to show our mothers how much we cherish and admire them. It’s a time to reflect on the love, sacrifices, and unwavering support that our mothers or our mother figures provide unconditionally.
