PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
I hope you all enjoyed the King’s Birthday long weekend and hopefully got some quality family time.
The Year 4 students are having their full-dress rehearsals for ‘Gladis Baker Gladiator’ next week and they can’t wait to perform for their family and friends on Wednesday, 26th and Thursday, 27th June. Tickets for both shows are still available through Trybooking HERE.
Unfortunately, the oval car park is still having parking issues. This is a friendly reminder to please be mindful of where you park so you don’t block anyone in. We are moving closer and closer to a resolution to our parking problem, and we ask you to be patient and understanding until it is rectified. Thank you.
Yesterday our Prep students went on their very first school excursion to the Melbourne Zoo. With warm jackets and beanies on, they boarded the buses for their trip to the zoo. Although the weather was not the best, it didn’t dampen the spirits of the children as they enjoyed seeing lots of animals. Thank you to the Prep staff for organising this wonderful experience for the children and thank you to the parent helpers and other staff who made this day work so well. The children loved it!
Have a great weekend.

Acting Principal

RETURN-IT PARTNERS WITH OSPS
We were delighted to have Return-it at our recent Fete, promoting all things recycling with regards to cans, bottles and containers that bare the 10c mark (usually near the bar code).
OVERFLOWING LOST PROPERTY BOX
Due to the increasing amount of lost property, it is no longer sustainable to sort the items and hand them back to their owners. Going forward, lost property will be cleared up to twice a term with clearly named items being on display at a time and location that will be advised to the school community via Compass. We strongly encourage parents/carers or students to look for any items they have lost during the school term. At the conclusion of these ‘display sessions’ any items not collected will either be donated to charity, placed in the uniform shop or disposed of.
We would like to thank our parent volunteers that have worked on lost property up until this point. Hundreds of items were handed back due to their efforts.
SCHOOL COUNCIL

Key updates include guidelines on sun-protective clothing, the use of sunscreen, provision of shade, and the integration of sun safety into our curriculum.

STUDENT SHOWCASE
ART SHOWCASE
The Art Room has been busy completing work for the end of semester. Continuing on with our Frozen Junior theme has been our focus, with many gorgeous works now hidden away for the grand unveiling at the end of Term 3.
YEAR 6
After a successful visit from renowned painter, Daniel Butterworth, in recent weeks, the Year Sixes are continuing working independently on a ‘Frozen’ ice cream. For this they are revisiting their understandings of tone and blending using acrylic paint and dry brush blending techniques to complete the work. The Year 6s are also welcome to come into the art room on a Monday at lunchtime if they wish to continue with this drawing activities. Just a friendly reminder that all Year Sixes require their own smock please.
YEAR 5
The Year Five children have carefully rendered a colour wheel snowflake, cross hatching and blending techniques have been applied and the work is sensational. They have also completed an acrylic painting of Olaf and a Sven Zentangle Reindeeer. The year fives are invited to come draw at lunchtimes on a Tuesday. They are now working on a Vincent Van Gogh activity…. Yep…. LET IT GOGH!
YEAR 4
Year Four children have done some paper weaving and made an oil pastel cake display for their production… The art room looked more like cake wars than ‘Gladys Bake Off’ but the mess was well worth it. They should be extremely proud of their efforts!
YEAR 3
Weaving a semi-circle to make a blue rainbow forms the basis of the Year Three textile unit this semester as well as looking at Vincent Van Goghs Stary Night. The Year 3 and 4 children have made good use of the Art Room during our Friday lunch time ‘Wool Club’ sessions starting up again this term. It is usually a full house on many occasions with many busy hands creating pom-poms and weaving from our donated wool supply.
YEAR 2
‘Love is an Open Door’, has been the focus for Year Twos this term. They have drawn someone special with watercolour pencils inside a hidden doorway and have now moved onto collaging the outsides with vines, flowers, and a touch of silver sparkle. These drawings will be on display in the foyer later this year.
YEAR 1
The Year One children have looked at the paintings of Claude Monet and are a wealth of information about him. They have drawn and coloured, painted, and glued. We have titled this work, ‘Let it Grow’, and the children really enjoyed creating a miniature Monet Garden. Finger Painting the little flower buds begins this week.
PREP
The Prep children have drawn a Wassily Kandinsky Concentric Circle Snowman. These are super cute with real twigs glued on for arms. They have learned about warm and colours and can discuss Vincent Van Goghs Sunflowers as they are currently honing their skills with scissors in order to create a special ‘Cool’ version with special snowflake papers.
Special thanks, once again, to our Art Captains this year, Mia, Morgan, Sage, Gayun, Rani and Olive for the proactive way they have assisted in the art room thus far.
We are sourcing wool donations, particularly blues and white, buttons, ribbons for our artworks. If you are able to donate, please bring any supplies to the Art Room.
THANK YOU!
From Miss Hunt and The Art Team
