PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Last Friday night the Parent Group hosted the movie night on the oval. It was wonderful to see many families enjoying picnic dinners together while watching The Addams Family. Thank you to all the families who supported this event and a big thank you the Parent Group for organising it.
The ballot papers for the upcoming School Council election were sent home yesterday to the eldest child in each family. Inside the envelope there are instructions on how to fill out the ballot paper. Please return this to the school office by Wednesday the 4th March at 4:00pm.
Running Club started this week with an impressive turnout of children on Monday afternoon and Wednesday morning before school. If your child would like to join this group they are more than welcome. The aim of the training is to improve the children’s running skills for the upcoming House Cross Country event (Thursday 26th March) and also for general fitness and wellbeing. Thank you to the teachers who have given up their time to train the children and to the teachers and parents who are making breakfast for the morning session.
Have a great week.

This includes after Choir on a Wednesday
Please make sure you do your civic duty to follow the road laws and rules. This includes parking correctly in the signed areas, and completing 3 point turns in the middle in the intersection!
We also urge parents to please remember to be patient and polite when using the Oval Carpark, and be good role models for all the children witnessing their behaviour. With over 800 families, drop off and collection times will be busy and you will need to plan your time accordingly.

Parking Issues
Car Parking
With over 1150 staff and students in our school community the start and end of our school days are very busy times, with cars, bicycles and pedestrians sharing our space. In order to ensure student safety and respect for our neighbours we ask that you refrain from the following actions at drop off and pick up times.
Entering the staff carpark via the driveway:
These carparks are strictly for staff use only. This also includes days when it may be wet or hot or windy – parents are not to use the staff carpark to drop off or collect the or students.
It is extremely dangerous to have students walking through the car park spaces. The safest option for collecting your child is to use the oval carpark or to park on the street and following the parking signage.
Parking in No Stopping Zones:
Means no stopping at all.
Stopping to let someone out of or into a car regardless of whether you leave the engine running or stay in the vehicle is not allowed.
These zones ensure our students and crossing supervisor has clear vision of oncoming traffic when crossing the road. It is also illegal to double park.
Doing U-Turns in front of the school:
This is illegal and highly dangerous to our students who are walking and riding bicycles.
Crossing with the Crossing Supervisor:
Please ensure you ALWAYS cross at the crossing with our Crossing Supervisor, even if you are not with your child. The extra few steps to do this teaches our children to follow the road rules and is for everyone’s safety.
Oval Carpark:
Please follow the arrows, use the correct exits and park considerately. This is your child’s community, so be patient and respectful.
Parking over neighbours driveways:
We have built strong community relationships with our neighbours and need to respect their rights to access their driveways at all times.
If you have concerns with parking in our local streets, please contact Monash Council.

Camps, Sports, Excursions Fund (CSEF)
The Victorian Government offer a Sports, Camps and Excursions Fund for families who hold a valid means-tested concession card are eligible to apply. A special consideration category also exists.
A payment of $125 for eligible primary school students and $225 for eligible secondary school students will be paid directly to the school to be used toward camps, sports and excursion costs for the student’s benefit.
CSEF payments to schools will commence from 1 March onwards. Schools are able to continue processing applications until the end of Term 2.

Women’s T20 Cricket World Cup
The final of the women’s T20 Cricket World Cup is at the MCG on International Women’s Day.
It’s the Sunday, March 8th and Katy Perry is playing at the MCG before and after the match
Let’s fill the MCG and set a world record for attendance at a women’s sporting event. That said, the occasion is bigger than a cricket match or a major sporting event. We can aim to set a world record that helps accelerate the pursuit of gender equality in Australia and around the world.
A great day out, watching women’s cricket, and Katy Perry and hopefully setting a world record!!
Adults tickets are starting at $20 and kids’ tickets are just $5.
Please click here to book tickets and share this message with others in our local community.
Thanks so much for your support and let’s be part of setting a world record with our families and friends on International Women’s Day.

STUDENT SHOWCASE

Summer Sports
Year 6 Interschool Sport is off to a great start. We have already played 2 fantastic games against St Andrews and Oakleigh Grammar. All Year 6 students are enjoying their chosen sport and displaying good sportsmanship. Some students have already rotated as a substitute and enjoyed playing Murrumbeena with Mr Rowe’s rounders team. This week we are playing St Peters at home who always prove to be very challenging.
Year 5 students are also enjoying a variety of activities during Thursday mornings. Students have been actively participating in ice-skating and lawn bowls utilising our strong community partnerships. Each student will have the opportunity to do both activities and also learn soccer and basketball skills back at school.
Thanks to Mr Mooney, the PE department and all our teachers who tirelessly coach and supervise our students.
