PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Last Friday we welcomed some very excited little children as they started their first big step towards primary school. The first group in our prep transition program went very well with the children enjoying a variety of 3 rotational activities and lots of parents gathered in the hall for afternoon tea and an information session about starting school.

The students who represented our school at the Southern Metro Regional Athletics last week all performed extremely well, with 16 of them moving on to the State Athletic Championships. Congratulations to everyone who performed at their very best and we wish the students who are competing at state level the very best of luck.

Finally, next Monday 31st October, is school as usual, with the following day being the Melbourne Cup public holiday. No students are required at school on this day, Tuesday 1st November.

Have a great week and enjoy the extra day off next week.

STUDENT SHOWCASE

PREP TEDDY BEAR SLEEPOVER

Great excitement could be felt in the prep area last week as each student tucked their Teddy into bed, ready for a quiet sleep.

Imagine our horror the next day when we discovered that the teddies had been extremely naughty and completely messed up each of the classrooms. Some tricky teddies also got into Mr Cantlon’s and Mrs Jackson’s office!!!

However our amazing Preps all worked together to clean up the dreadful mess that their teddies had made. We then enjoyed a Teddy Bear Picnic with our Grade 4 Buddies at lunch time. What a fabulous day!!!

LITERACY CORNER

LITERACY CORNER

Using the Smart Spelling Sentences, the Preps have been producing some terrific Art work. Each week a new sentence is focused on. The sentence is mixed up, and children paste the sentence in order.

Last week was “Who will be the first to fly their kite?” We studied the split digraph i-e and brainstormed other words that have the same spelling. We also revisited the sound ‘i’ makes in words such as zip, fit etc.

RESILIENCE PROJECT

PREP GEM

G: The Preps are grateful that our teddies had the chance to sleepover at school. AND the teachers are grateful at how well the children helped to clean up the DREADFUL mess they made!!!

E: In Prep we always help our friends when they are sad.

M: We are mindful that we need to keep the playground clean. To help we love to pick up papers and earn House Points!!!

SENIOR SCHOOL SPORT

They are currently being coached by the Year 5 and P.E teachers and will soon spend two lunchtimes being coached by their 2023 Year 6 coach.

The Year 4 students have been enjoying sports sessions each Thursday with our Year 6 students who have organised the coaching sessions, teaching skills and games.
