PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

This Friday we will be welcoming the first half of our 2023 Prep children to our Transition program. This is an exciting time as our new preps visit the prep classrooms and take part in several rotational activities. During this time, there will be an information session for the parents and carers in the hall. Next Friday the second half of the group will attend their first session. Both groups will return for a second session in November. Thank you to the Parent Group who will provide afternoon tea to the parents.

The year 4 students have been learning about inventions, forces and simple machines. To complement their learning, half of the year level participated in a Craft Power incursion last week, where they used simple machines and woodwork skills to construct their own F1 racing cars. They also learnt about forces and friction. The other half of the year 4 level will participate in this fun and educational activity this week.

We have many children who are representing our school in the Southern Metro Regional Athletics today. I’d like to wish them good luck and enjoy the day. I will share their outcomes in next week’s report.

Have a great week.

STUDENT SHOWCASE

JAPANESE WEEK

Konnichiwa! We celebrated Japanese Week last week and it was fantastic!

Students and teachers did dress up as anime characters and Pokémon characters. Quite a lot of people wore Karate and Harajuku Style clothing as well as beautiful traditional clothes, Kimono.

During Japanese Week, students enjoyed various special activities in their Japanese class such as Origami, a Pokémon treasure hunt, a paper plane competition, a traditional tea ceremony, Janken (Rock, Paper, Scissors), and a chopsticks competition.

Moreover, students enjoyed special Sushi lunch organised by the Parent Group.

SUSHI DAY

Kon’nichiwa, min’na! Parent Group were pleased to hold another successful lunch day last Tuesday.

What a better dish to serve for Japanese Day than sushi. Having students, teachers and parents comment in passing how delicious the sushi was, is what makes these days and all the work behind the scenes worthwhile.

Once again, we’d like to express thanks to our parent volunteers who delivered more than 1000 sushi and juices to the classrooms during the morning.
