PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Fundraising forms an integral part of our school, and without we would not be able to provide the wonderful facilities and programs we offer without it.

Over the past five year we have made many new improvements to our facilities which have been 100% self-funded. A lot of the money for this is provided through fundraising. The Parent Group at our school work tirelessly to raise money for projects as well as the school organising a magnificent annual fete and other events which contributes much needed funds.

A snapshot of some of our major projects in recent years are:

Senior Music Room – $170,000

Undercover roofs – $300,000

The Art room – $250,000

Junior Playground and Tiger Turf – $180,000

Senior Playground – $60,000

Year 1 Complex – $80,000

This of course does not include the thousands and thousands of dollars we have spent on literacy and numeracy resources for the classrooms, computers and technology equipment. And this is all done with very little government funding.

This is why it is so important to OSPS that you continue to support our fundraising events so we can keep making this school the best it can be.

The next fundraiser is The Colour Run, 3 notices are coming home in coming days with more information, the link is below to these notices. Please see details below on how to register your child. It is sure to be a magnificent day for the children, while helping the school.

Thank you.

Have a great weekend.

Ron

STUDENT SHOWCASE

Year 3 Excursion to Chesterfield Farm

The Year 3’s finished off term three with an excursion to Chesterfield Farm. This was to celebrate our hand-raising of Ushi and the culmination of our unit on dairy and its benefits. The weather treated us kindly and we had an informative day touring the dairy, milking a cow, feeding various animals, riding on a tractor and of course visiting our Ushi who was in the animal nursery. We are sure she remembered us as we received lots of licks and nudges from her. It was a great end to a very busy term!

Special thanks to Kylie and Travis who have supported our dairy unit over a number of years – they have trusted us to raise Chester, Chessie and now Ushi and we have loved them all.  The year 3’s have all written thank you letters which were posted this week.

PARENT GROUP

80’s Night a Blast

On behalf of Parent Group, we would like to say a big thank you to all the parents and staff that came and partied like it was 1985 again. An awesome night was had by all singing and dancing with the guys from To tally’s 80’s to all those songs we know so well.

Big thanks also to James Melbourne for his lighting expertise.
