PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

Welcome back to the final term of the year. As always at OSPS, the term will be full of exciting activities. There will be incursions, excursions, division and region athletics, Japanese Dress up Day, Parent Group activities, a curriculum day and the much-anticipated Year 2 production. Before you know it, we will be celebrating Christmas and the summer holiday break. But most importantly, there will be lots of learning to prepare the children for 2023 before that happens.

In just over two weeks, we will begin our 2023 Prep Transition program. This will be held over four Friday afternoons where our new preppies will be involved in various activities to help familiarise them with primary classroom. We are so happy to welcome the children back to our transition program face to face as it is such an important part of preparing for primary school.

The building project continues to take shape with the whole year 6 area clear, footings are in for the decking and the builders are prepping for the footings and slab for the new kitchen/science area.

Have a great week everyone.

STUDENT SHOWCASE

FOOTY DAY A HIT

The OSPS annual Footy Day was awesome with the parade, longest kick, wheelie bin teacher kick and a very special guest coming from Melbourne Football Club Max Gawn!

In glorious spring weather, the students excitedly paraded their football colours to the march of their club’s theme song. Then Ms Lema starred in the staff footy kicking competition by kicking her footy into the wheelie bin! The second time this has happened since Ms Di Siervi a few years ago.

Ms Bonham organised Max Gawn from Melbounre Football club to surprise some keen Year 1 fans and visit the OSPS footy day parade! How lucky are we!

Thank you to Mr Morrey and Mr Eykman for the music and entertainment and for all the staff who helped on the day.

Thank you to parent group for putting on the yummy saussage sizzle for lunch! It was a great day.

AND THAT’S A WRAP FOR MOANA

The 4 shows of Moana were sensational, with the closing night performed in front of a full house.

Congratulations to all the Year 6 students, staff and parents on all your hard work in pulling together the first full show since 2019.

Huge thanks to our tireless production team who have kept up with longstanding tradition and provided a little extra to the show at the end.

Stay tuned for a larger showcase in a future newsletter.
