The staggered start back will see the Preps commence on Monday 18th October and the year 1’s and year 2’s on Thursday 21st October. Years 3 – 6 will begin in Week 4. Everyone is looking forward to being back together at OSPS as soon as possible.
Details of the all the return dates and further information will be forwarded to all year levels prior to their commencement. In the meantime, the children will resume their remote learning via their Google Classroom and Zoom meetings with their teacher.
Over the holidays the children were invited to take part in the myON reading challenge. During the period 20th September – 3rd October we completed: 10,000 digital books, read 204,000 pages for a total of 76,000 minutes. Congratulations to everyone who participated and to the children who achieved the highest for their year level.
I hope you have a great week ahead.

FOOTY COLOURS DAY
On the last day of Term 3, OSPS celebrated Footy Colours Day from home. We set up a padlet as a way for students to post pictures and videos of themselves in their team colours and the response we got was fantastic! There were plenty of different teams represented and a variety of different sports on show too. Some of the videos posted were amazing and I think that the Year 2s were my favourite. They were kicking balls in bins, at their local oval, in the backyard and even in the house (no damage- phew). It was great to see so many kids getting out of the house and kicking the footy.
We were able to raise $728 for the Fight Cancer Foundation which was a bit under what I was hoping for but it is still substantial nonetheless. Thank you to all of those families and teachers who donated.
Next year, Footy Day will be back and bigger than ever. Footy League Grand Final, Students vs Teachers, Longest Kick Competition and a host of other things. 2022 Footy Colours Day is going to be awesome!

OSPS SPORT

SSV VIRTUAL CROSS COUNTRY
During Term 3 all Victorian school students were invited to participate in the School Sport Victoria Virtual Cross Country. Students were asked to upload their information to the SSV portal after they had been for a walk or run. This was a great initiative during lockdown to get outside and get some mindfulness and of course, exercise. OSPS received many entries over the course of the event and finished in 10th place overall and in 6th place for primary schools.
Congratulations to all students who participated you should be very proud. Especially Harrison in 3MW for his multiple efforts and Maliah in 6JD who ran and walked a total of 100km during the challenge. Well done Maliah!
