NEXT 7 EVENTS @ OSPS
Last night we had the years 1 to 4 information sessions. It was wonderful to see so many parents taking an interest in their child’s education by attending. Don’t forget the years 5 and 6 information session will be held next Tuesday 21st February. There will be child minding available again. If you were unable to attend the nights all the information is covered in the booklets sent home. Any further questions please make a time with your classroom teacher for a chat.
Tomorrow night we have our first Parent Group event, the outdoor cinema, presenting the movie, ‘SING!’ This is a great opportunity to get together with other families or make new friends within our school community. A big thank you to the Parent Group for all the work they do to organise these events for our families. I hope everyone has a fantastic night.
Enjoy your weekend.

Children who arrive before 8.30am on school days MUST be supervised by a parent or guardian. We allow 15 minutes for children and parents to make their way to the classrooms before doors open at 8.45am. Children are not to play games or on equipment before school. There have been several children arriving well before 8.30am without parents or guardians.

This year we will continue to use QKR as our preferred payment method. We ask that you use QKR when making payments for all your school accounts – this includes Essential Learning Fees, Excursion, Incursions and any other charges to come up through the year.
Charges are child specific, so please make sure you select the correct child and year level when making payments. If the incorrect child is showing, tap their name at the top, and select the correct child from the pop up box.
Library Fund Donations cannot be made via Qkr, but they can be made at the Office or via Bpay. Please contact Karen Hall if you use the Bpay option. firstname.lastname@example.org

Ramjot on the Golden Temple: “Walking around Kinkakuji with the frozen lake, snow, garden and the temple itself was a magical sight.”
Ivy on the Golden Temple: “Yatta! (Hooray) Today we go to the Golden Temple in Kyoto. It was really pretty because it was snowing and the temple was just BEAUTIFUL!!!”
Sasha on Hiroshima: “It was depressing and confronting. One of humanity’s “Never again” moments. The fact that people decide to use such weapons against each other, to their own kind, is just shocking. Not surrendering to stop the killing is just as stupid too. I am feeling disgusted.
Sasha on the Shinkansen, Mt Fuji and snow: “It was beautiful seeing Mt Fuji and snow falling while traveling in the shinkansen. A once in a lifetime experience. Amazing.”
Ramjot on Hiroshima: “Today was a real eye opener for all of us. When we came out of the Peace Centre we paid our respects to Sadako (the girl of the 1,000 cranes) and the other people who died in the blast. We were so moved we even signed the petition against A bombs. I am feeling lucky to be alive.”
Ivy on meeting the host family: “After the welcome party we went home with our host family. They treated me very well. We had Japanese curry. My favourite food so far is Japanese curry because it is just oishii in all ways. Today I am feeling special.”
Alex on Tamba Higashi PS: “I was nervous about my first day at the Primary School, but I was pleased to see that anxiety melt away.””I think THPS is amazing because …it’s hard to explain, but it gives off this welcoming feeling like you belong there.”
Samantha on the sento (bath house): “I really liked the sento. It had different types of baths. I really liked the one where you sat on a chair and this really strong jet of water pelted you on the back like a massage. I also like the scented bath, it smelt like cinnamon. It was very traditional and relaxing.”
Amelia on Oji Zoo in Kobe and other weekend activities: “There were lots of animals and Yuki (mother) bought Sam and me a very cute panda toy. Yuki just came into our room and said, “Would you like to go to the bath house?” Yay! We had a yummy dinner at the sushi train. I am feeling extremely happy/excited today.”
Ilana on Day 11: “Today my bed was warm and everywhere else was freezing. The so called farewell party was actually really enjoyable! There was heaps of oishii snacks and treats including MELON SODA! The speeches were quite emotional. The parent committee gave us HEAPS of Chi-Tan merch!! Squee!! And then our host family gave us lots of presents for our families. I am feeling really spoilt today!”
