PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
How things can change so quickly in a week!
As we are in our three day lockdown from school, thank you to the staff who responded so quickly last Friday afternoon with very short notice. Each year level quickly organised print packs and online work for each student to work through for the three days. Thank you also to the staff who are supporting the onsite children this week.
Thank you to all the parents who have once again taken on remote learning, and to our prep parents who may be doing it for the first time. We truly appreciate your support during these times.
We will forward you any updated information regarding returning to school via Operoo, and if all goes well, we’ll see you back at school this Thursday.
Enjoy your week.
Ron
Principal

VISUAL ARTS TEAM
LOOK AT THE PREP PORTRAITS!
Oh wait a minute, the Art teachers have turned into Prep Portraits this year! From left to right, introducing the team:
Mrs Wilkin enjoys spending as much time as possible outside surrounded by nature. Whether out in her garden or at one of the many local nature reserves. Janet has always had a love of Australian art and of Botanical drawings. During 2020 she kept a nature journalling diary. Sketching observations in nature. A very relaxing activity. Some of Janet’s other hobbies are sewing, drawing, knitting and ceramics.
Miss Hunt has been an art teacher at the school for 8 years. She lives to home decorate and paint. On the weekends you will find her in her studio creating masterpieces or exploring craft markets.
Mrs Cato is now in her third year at O.S.P.S and the children continue to inspire her with their fresh ideas and enthusiasm. Working in the art room is a hub of creative minds and smiling faces. When she is not at work Mrs Cato enjoys dabbling in her own creative pursuits. She is inspired by plant life and a love for patterning and Japanese design. She enjoys working with traditional art mediums and experimenting with digital technologies, sometimes blending the two. Feel free to follow her creative journey on Instagram @cato_creates

STUDENT SHOWCASE
PREP BUDDIES
There was such excitement in the Prep and Grade 4 classrooms this week. The Preps met their Grade 4 Buddies!
How lucky the Prep children are to have such kind and helpful Grade 4 students to work with. The Grade 4 students will be terrific role models and assist the Preps as they transition to school.
The students will meet every couple of weeks and spend time together in the classroom, and sometimes outside in the playground.
Buddies will stay together for the next few years and support each other in so many ways. We are all looking forward to ‘Working Together.’

INTERSCHOOL SPORT ROUND 2
OSPS students travelled to St. Andrews to compete in the Bentleigh District School Sports Association interschool sports round 2.
Well done to all the students, overall we showed some strong results.
YEAR 6 INTRASCHOOL SPORT
While interschool sport was on, students who didn’t choose a summer sport were enjoying various skill based games with P.E teachers on our school grounds.
Our Year 6 students enjoyed participating against each other in games of Mat Ball, Murray’s Game and various fitness activities.
A great time was had by all our students.
