I am very happy to announce a wonderful community project that the school is involved in. We have submitted an application to the Pick my Project government initiative to build a ‘Community Robotics Lab’… but we need your help.
This grant will be decided by votes from parents, families, friends and other people in the community. Please see the link in this newsletter or follow the instructions on the OSPS website on how to submit your vote.
Yesterday I had the pleasure of visiting Sapphire Care Oakleigh to see a group of our children performing Indian Dancing to the residents, to celebrate Indian Independence Day. The nine girls entertained the crowd, who tapped their feet and clapped their hands so happily to the music. It was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone who was there.
Thank you to Nikki Kaur for organising this event. The dance group will be performing at next week’s assembly. Please see the article in the newsletter about their performance.
Enjoy the weekend.

Indian Dancing at Sapphire Care
On Wednesday, nine of our students went to Sapphire Care, Oakleigh to dance for the residents. They were celebrating Indian Independence Day. Many of the residents gathered to watch a beautiful performance from the girls full of joyful music and colourfully decorated dresses.
It was wonderful to see the residents clapping their hands and tapping their feet to the music, with huge smiles on their faces (one resident was seen crying for joy) as the girls performed two routines.
The girls have spent many hours learning their dances from Nikki Kaur, one of our parents. A big thank you to the girls, Gloris, Dishia, Baani, Aneeta, Grace, Ashley, Mishell, Zoya and Shreya. Also thank you to Nikki and the parents who supported the girls on the day.
The community partnership OSPS has with Sapphire Care is very rewarding to everyone involved.

Mouth Watering News
Another day at Oakleigh South Primary School, but it wasn’t an ordinary day for the Year 3’s.
Everyone was scrunching newspaper, but why? Even more importantly, why was there a huge hole in the ground in the Village garden? Because it was Potato Day! Oh and the hole was for putting the sticks and newspaper in.
All the kids were so excited when the teachers lit the fire. As the students waited for the potatoes to cook the teachers handed out fun worksheets for them to do.
When the potatoes were ready everyone got to choose the topping they would like. The options were butter, cheese and yoghurt. Everyone they ate their potatoes happily.
It was a spectacular day!
