On Tuesday we farewelled our visiting students and teachers from Tamba Higashi PS in Japan. Their week was filled with lots of activities at school and with their host families. I’m sure they will return to Japan with very fond memories of their visit to our school. I would like to take this opportunity to thank our Japanese team for their hard work in making this experience such a memorable one and a huge thank you to our host families for looking after the children so well.

As you have probably noticed we have started the electrical upgrade from the front of the school to the carpark. It is a major works project and there will be restrictions to access some parts of the school. Please be aware that we may need to redirect you during these works.

Lastly, please be reminded that if you are walking your dog in and out of the school to bring and pick up your children, please make sure they are kept on a short lead and in your focus at all times. Thank you.

Enjoy the weekend.

“I can’t stop laughing ever since I came to Australia!”
Ryuya  (Tamba Higashi Primary School)

This year, 12 students, Sota, Haruto, Hijiri, Kokone, Yumeka, Tamaki, Sae, Misaki, Keito, Iori, Ryuya and Asuka from Tamba Higashi Primary School visited our school’s exchange program from the 31st of July till 7st of August.

This is our third year hosting them at our school and we all feel that our exchange program between OSPS and Tamba Higashi primary school became a tradition and a part of the school culture. Both students from Japan and OSPS students ones again developed a bond and exchanged cultural values and formed lasting friendships. Students who hosted the Japanese students have gained unforgettable and valuable experiences.

Having the exchange program surely have impacted OSPS students in a way where they learnt to embrace different cultures, be more open to different languages and be challenged to move out of comfort zones to get to know new people. We hope that this program can continue to bring people together.

Thank you to all the teachers who were involved in organizing activities and special programs for Japanese students. Most of all, thank you to the Gray, Diplaris, Barwell, Antonio, Mcrae and Roussety Families for looking after the Japanese guests and Mr. Cantlon for supporting the Japanese Team to make this exchange program possible. Lastly, thank you to Mami Martin for her effort in organising and giving OPSP students the opportunity to experience an amazing program once again this year.
