PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
On Tuesday we welcomed our visiting students and teachers from Tamba Higashi PS in Japan. They were introduced at our school assembly and appeared very excited for the week ahead. Thank you to the staff and host families for providing this amazing experience for everyone involved.
Our wonderful prep children entertained everyone at the assembly with their fun filled songs that they had learnt to celebrate their 100 days of school. Wearing their colourful crowns, they proudly sang their songs to the school and their families. Thank you to the staff involved in making this a very memorable moment in their lives.
Finally, we have been informed that the main electrical upgrade will begin soon. The portable generator has been put in place to assist with the electricity supply until the main works are completed. This will take up to two months to do as it involves lots of trenching from the front of the school through to the teacher’s carpark area. I thank you in anticipation for your understanding while this work is being undertaken.
This week our first offer of Prep placements for 2019 were sent out. Many hours of work goes in to enrolling, transitioning and placing the new preps students so please return your confirmation as soon as possible to our enrolment officer at enrolments@oakleighsouthps.vic.edu.au this will then allow us to offer other places. This is also a reminder to enrol any siblings of students at our school now. Thank you
Have a great weekend.

Principal

2018 Parent Opinion Survey
WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!
Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.
Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 23rd July to Sunday 26th August.
The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.
The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September.
Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

Both nights were spectacular with loud singing, enthusiastic dancing and amazing, colourful costumes. Well done to Lemone Meyers, Elaine Wilkinson, the Year 4 teachers and all the amazing parents and teachers who gave up their time to ensure the success of this production.
