Over the past two nights we have been entertained by the Year 4 students in the production of “A Knight at Dawn Kids”. The singing, dancing and acting was once again of an extremely high standard. To everyone involved in this year’s show from the children, teachers and parents I extend a huge thank you for all of your hard work. Well done everyone.

Today the Preps have been celebrating their 100 days at school participating in lots of ‘100’ based activities. Wow the time has flown and they have learnt so much already. All of the prep children will be performing on stage at next Tuesday’s school assembly. Everyone is invited!

It’s that time of the year again where a number of families are asked to complete the Parent Opinion Survey. A random computer selection of approximately 30% of our families will be advised to complete the survey online. We would greatly appreciate it if you would take the time to do this as we value your feedback. There are more details in this newsletter.

Thank you
Enjoy your weekend.

2018 Parent Opinion Survey

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents think of our school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies.

Approximately 30 per cent of parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year the Parent Opinion Survey will be conducted from Monday 23rd July to Sunday 26th August.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 10-15 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.

The survey results will be reported back to the school at the end of September.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.

Sports Desk July 2018

Division Football

Congratulations to the Oakleigh South Football team who were Runners up ( by a point ) at Tuesday’s Division Football Championships after winning the District Grand Final.

The team won 3 games and lost 1, therefore they don’t progress to the next level.

This team was by far the best Oakleigh South has had in the time I’ve been here. Well done to the children, the school coaches – Anthony Rowe and Sean Alston and the coaches down at Oakleigh Dragons ( Andrew Holman  U / 12’s ) who have worked so hard on their children’s skills and game,
Best Players – Oliver, Ricky, Sunreet, Theo, Jake A, Ethan G, Jovan and Lukas.

State X-C

Congratulations to our five Grade 6 children who competed at last week’s State Cross Country Championships at Bundoora.

Emily – 29th, Jessica – 7th, Ori – 1st MC, ( Off to Nationals ), Teona- 32nd, Tanasha – 17th.

The school is currently installing a new Long Jump and Triple Jump pit. This will be fantastic once completed.

Children in the Athletics team are currently training on a daily basis, preparing for the upcoming District Athletics Championships.
