PRINCIPAL’S REPORT

I have an update on the School Council election. As nominations exceed vacancies there will need to be an election. Please refer to the timeline for this process in this newsletter.

The Year 4 Production, The Music Man, begins tonight at 7pm and continues Wednesday and Thursday evenings. The children are very excited and can’t wait to perform for their families, friends and the school community, so please come and join us! Tickets are available at the door. Cash only.

A big thank you to the staff involved in this production who willingly taking on this exhausting but very rewarding workload, so the children have the best experience possible.

It’s that time of the year again where a number of families (selected through a random computer process) have been asked to complete the Parent Opinion Survey. As we value your feedback please take the time to complete the survey online and should take 10-15 minutes to complete. Please complete the survey by Sunday 11 August 2019.

Have a great week.

Principal

SCHOOL MATTERS

No Children Drop Offs in the Staff Carpark

Please be reminded that children can only be dropped off in the staff carpark by their parents if they are booked in to Out of School Hours Care. There have been incidences lately where children are being dropped off to school extremely early in the staff carpark and have nearly been hit by cars coming into the carpark.

All children must walk in from the front of the school using the footpath that runs down the side of the oval, or across the oval form the oval carpark. If you are concerned with poor weather please provide your child with a hooded waterproof jacket if it is raining

Thank you

STUDENT SHOWCASE

CodeClub RoboCup

As part of Year 6 CodeClub this term, a select number of students are preparing for a tournament on Saturday the 3rd of August. The competition is called RoboCup Junior and is a project-oriented educational initiative that supports local, regional and international robotic events for young students.

Four teams will be entering the Junior Rescue section of the competition which involves students creating robots that compete by following a winding line on a series of tiles to a designated rescue area. On the way the robot could encounter obstacles, bridges and short cut opportunities that will challenge the students. In preparation for the event, our teams are meeting almost every day at either lunchtimes or before school. Under the guidance of teacher/parent mentors, students have already engineered their vehicles and now we begin the process of creating code to make them work autonomously.

For more information, visit https://www.robocupjunior.org.au/vic and we look forward to reporting back after the event.
