PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
The Prep children are well settled into their classroom routines with their individual assessments taking place each Wednesday until the end of February. Next Tuesday 11th February we are welcoming the new Prep families to our school community with the Prep Welcome BBQ put on by the OSPS Parent Group. We hope to see lots of Prep families attend this event.
Welcome back to the teachers and students who arrived back from Japan on Monday. They have all had an experience of a lifetime! A big thank you to Mami Sensei, Sumiko Sensei and Rob Martin for making this trip possible for the children.
We are overwhelmed with the positive response to our new communication system, Care Monkey. Thank you to the vast majority of the school community who have registered and are receiving important information via their phones, tablets or computers. Not only is this platform time saving for you and for us, but more importantly it will save many trees by reducing our paper usage by approximately 30,000 sheets. It is continually being fine-tuned to make it more efficient for everyone.
Finally, please diarise the Fete date…Saturday 2nd May. This is our school’s major fundraiser for the year and is always a fantastic community day. Stay tuned for lots more information.
Enjoy the rest of your week.
Ron Cantlon
Principal

SUPERVISION AND PARKING
Parking
A reminder to parents and carers are NOT to use the Staff Car Park, or the disabled parks, regardless of the time of day. It is NOT to be used as a quick drop off or collection point.
This includes after Choir on a Wednesday
Please make sure you do your civic duty to follow the road laws and rules. This includes parking correctly in the signed areas, and completing 3 point turns in the middle in the intersection!
We also urge parents to please remember to be patient and polite when using the Oval Carpark, and be good role models for all the children witnessing their behaviour. With over 800 families, drop off and collection times will be busy and you will need to plan your time accordingly.
Please click here for further parking information oakleighsouthps.vic.edu.au/about-us/#parking
Supervision
Yard duty before school commences at 8:45 am.
After school teachers are in the grounds until 3:45 pm. Students on school grounds outside these times will not be supervised (unless they attending a before or after school care program or supervised extracurricular activity).
Parents/carers are requested to ensure that students do not arrive early or stay late after school unless they are attending before or after school care, or a pre-arranged supervised activity (i.e. running club).
SCHOOL MATTERS

Medication and Action Plans
We still have a number of families who have not yet uploaded current Action Plans to CareMonkey and provided the school with a copy and medication. All Action Plans must be reviewed and signed off by your doctor and have a clear, current photo of the student. They are a legal requirement, and it is our school policy that they be updated every 12 months.
Please ensure that this is done Friday, 7th February.
Having all plans with photos, and medication correctly labelled ensures we comply with the regulations and supports us to administer the correct medication at all times. Your support with this is very important.
If you have any queries, please contact Carlyn Backers in the Office or email backers.carlyn.c@edumail.vic.gov.au
For copies of ASCIA and Asthma Plans can be found on the school website in under Forms, Event and Year Level Information https://oakleighsouthps.vic.edu.au/news-events/

CareMonkey
Thank you to all the parents who have registered for CareMonkey and have responded to the notices which have been sent. For those who have not yet registered, please do so as a matter of urgency as this is our official method of communication with parents. You will continue to be reminded about notices via email until you respond in CareMonkey.
If you wish to have Parent B added to CareMonkey please email caremonkey@oakleighsouthps.vic.edu.au, stating the name and email address of the Parent to be added, your child’s name and class.
Also, please remember to take a screen shot of your child’s action plan for Asthma, Anaphylaxis or Allergy, an upload it to CareMonkey.
Regards,
Jo, Sarah & Carlyn

School Payments and Qkr!
Qkr! continues to be our preferred method of payment for school accounts, and to make things easier for parents, class teachers and the Office, we have some changes to the Qkr! proccess this year.
Qkr will now open on a Wednesday, and after a 2 week payment window, close at 4.30pm on a Wednesday.
If you miss this payment window, or pay using BPAY, Credit Card or CSEF, you will need to complete the orange form, available from your Classroom Teacher, for processing via the Classroom Cash Book.
Now the new year has begun, please download the Qkr app on your phone or tablet.
Register your child – checking that all details are correct, and that you have registered your child, not yourself.
Insert info about account set up
Instead, we ask that if you have any issues accessing your Qkr account please email Sarah Van Deursen vandeursen.sarah.e@edumail.vic.gov.au with the following details:
* User’s email address registered with Qkr
* User’s mobile number in Qkr
* First name and surname of one or more of the user’s children.
This will enable us to contact our Qkr account manager who can then confirm and delete the user’s Qkr registration so that the user can then Sign Up on Qkr using the same email and mobile number if desited.
** Note that deleting the user’s Qkr registration will also delete their access to previous Qkr receipts. Users will, however, be able to see their Qkr purchases on their credit card statement, and the school will be able to verify their transaction details if required by running a past payment report.
To avoid the possibility of users losing access to their Qkr receipts in the future, they can activate the option to Always Email Receipts on their Qkr App settings.
School Fees and Statements
Statements have been sent home today, Wednesday 5th February with the eldest student in each family.
When making a payment, please ensure you are only paying for event that your child is participating in, and that you have been invoiced for. If you are unsure of your account balance, please contact the Office.

Camps, Sports, Excursions Fund (CSEF)
The Victorian Government offer a Sports, Camps and Excursions Fund for families who hold a valid means-tested concession card are eligible to apply. A special consideration category also exists.
A payment of $125 for eligible primary school students and $225 for eligible secondary school students will be paid directly to the school to be used toward camps, sports and excursion costs for the student’s benefit.
CSEF payments to schools will commence from 1 March onwards. Schools are able to continue processing applications until the end of Term 2.

School Banking
School Banking will resume this Monday, 10th February.
Please ensure that your deposit slips are accurately filled in, and that you have updated your student’s class for 2020.
If you are new to OSPS but have done school banking at your last school, please send a note with your child’s book letting the volunteer parents know so that they can update the student code and deposit the entry correctly.
