YEAR 6 WINTER INTERSCHOOL SPORT
Last week Year 6 students participated in Winter Interschool Sport (Round 2) with all teams playing away against Murrumbeena. Murrumbeena were fantastic opposition and displayed great sportsmanship and skill. Next week we play at home against Oakleigh Grammar. Parents are welcome to come and support their child and if you’re available to umpire or score please speak to your child’s sports coach. The winter fixture can be found here at Bentleigh District Winter Fixture.
Students not participating in the competitive fixture enjoyed lawn bowls at the local South Oakleigh Bowls Club. Students learnt the rules of the game, how to use the bowl bias correctly and enjoyed completing games. Next week students will again enjoy another session of lawn bowls at South Oakleigh Bowls Club.
Thank you to Marcus Mooney, P.E staff and the Year 6 teachers for organising this wonderful program and giving up their time to coach our children.
YEAR 5 WINTER SPORT ROTATIONS
Last week all of our Year 5 students enjoyed experiencing the summer sports they will be playing in 2022. These include: volleyball, flag rugby, basketball, cricket, softball. Students are learning the skills required for each game, the rules and how best to position themselves in games. All students had a lot of fun and enjoy the variety of sports on offer. Thank you to the P.E and Year 5 teachers for making this possible.
BENTLEIGH DISTRICT CROSS-COUNTRY
On Tuesday the 18th of May, Oakleigh South competed against six other schools at District Cross-Country. A perfect day met us at Bald Hill Park for the event. Congratulations to all the students over the last 10 weeks for putting in so much time and effort in preparation for the event. We were lucky enough to take out the overall championship, just defeating Coatesville at the post.
We are super proud of all the students who gave it their all and pushed to do their best for the school. Well done to students who finished in the top 8, who will now move on to Division, back at Bald Hill Park, on Tuesday 1st June.
A huge thank you to Mr. Mooney for all his work behind the scenes and setting up on the day. None of this would have been possible without him. Thank you to Miss Lema, Miss McCartney, Miss Gunning and Mr. Crane for coaching all the students in the lead up.
Well done to all the students, and well done to Oakleigh South on the massive achievement
