PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
Welcome back everyone to term 2. I hope you have enjoyed some relaxing family time! Term 2 will be just as busy as usual at OSPS.
The first big event is our annual Fete to be held in two weeks’ time on Saturday 4th May. You would’ve already received lots of information via your children and the school website. If you haven’t already done so, it’s not too late to help out your children’s class by volunteering some time on their stall. Many hands makes light work!
Fete day is always a wonderful community time, full of fun and friendship.
Next Monday, the Preps and Year 1’s will begin their Healthy Life Skills sessions.
A big congratulations to one of our former students, Dhruv Rodrigues Chico, who won the Stawell Gift. It’s always fantastic seeing past students achieving great things. Well done Dhruv!
Please remember that this Thursday 25th April is ANZAC Day. This is a public holiday and the children are not required at school.
Have a great week.
Ron Cantlon
Principal

SCHOOL MATTERS

Oakleigh Education Plan
Dear Parents and Carers of students,
We’re planning the future of local education in your area and we are listening!
The Oakleigh Education Plan will look for ways to support student outcomes with a continued focus on excellence by empowering students to learn and achieve, experience high quality teaching and the best conditions for learning. The Oakleigh Education Plan will be guided by the needs and aspirations of the community and help develop tailored responses that support young people to engage and thrive in the future world of work.
We already have had a great response to the survey. Thank all of you who have taken the time to respond. We have extended the survey to the 03 May 2019 to ensure as many people as possible have the opportunity to input to the future of education in your region.
So please fill in the survey to ensure that our recommendations are based on a thorough understanding of your needs, concerns and aspirations for local education now and into the future.

Car Parking
Parents are NOT to use the Staff Car Park, or the disabled parks, regardless of the time of day. It is NOT to be used as a quick drop off or collection point.
This includes after Choir on a Wednesday
Please make sure you do your civic duty to follow the road laws and rules. This includes parking correctly in the signed areas, and completing 3 point turns in the middle in the intersection!
We also urge parents to please remember to be patient and polite when using the Oval Carpark, and be good role models for all the children witnessing their behaviour. With over 800 families, drop off and collection times will be busy and you will need to plan your time accordingly.
